Throughout leadership I have developed tons of leadership skills. The three that I excel most at are;
|
My goal in the future is to be an everyday leader in the community and to one day be able to host charity events. For next year my goal is to help with Bert Church as they host the Alberta Student Leadership Conference.I had volunteered this year at MSLC an leadership conference hosted in Airdrie this year. At MSLC I ran events and had a spirit group where we would talk about the different kinds of leadership styles they learned at the event and how they can put it into their everyday lives. I also volunteered at Wee Read where every Wednesday I would go to a local Elementary school and read to two students.
I participated in big brothers big big sisters this year where me and a child from grade 3 would spend an hour and fifteen minutes every week playing games, talking about school, and baking. It was a wonderful experience and we helped each other better ourselves a lot. Throughout BBBS i used lots of mentoring skills like acknowledge good and bad behaviour and how to tell him it's good or bad. Also i used compromising to pick activities we would do. The role i took as the mentor was one of being like a big brother where he could talk to me and tell me anything also i helped him with sports techniques. The role my kid took was one of a little brother where he would suggest what we do and and talk to me about his day at school. The responsibilities i took was one of an adult where i had to remind him to clean up after we played and tell him if he was being rude or breaking rules and when we baked i did all the stuff with the oven. The responsibilities my kid had was usually just like cleaning up and grabbing supplies for our games. He was someone who looked up to me so it made me think before I did things and think what he would think. Also it was great to let loose and connect with my inner child. I think it was good for him because he would talk about school and he would practise for his floor hockey team and he could just let loose after class.
